The plan for today was to run 4 miles but, but my legs are tired. I wouldn't say they are sore just fatigued. Should I take a day off? HA! Gotcha! I did it anyway. : )
It's a little warmer today and I hear it's going to be blazing this weekend. I can't say we've had any really hot weather yet this summer. So here it comes...finally. I may reconsider the 5K on Sat. I could get up early while it's more cool and do my own thing. It just wouldn't be as fun. I did this same race last year and it was burning hot that time. It made me a little sick afterward. I say that now but I know in the back of my mind I'll probably do it anyway. lol
Today's run was a little rough. As I mentioned, my legs are really tired from yesterday's 6 miles. Once I got going I was fine up to the 2 mile mark. The 3rd mile was hard. Then by 3.5, I decided to walk. Did that in 40 mins. After .25 of walking, I started running again to my 4 mile mark. By then 48 mins. had elapsed. I wonder if I ate enough yesterday? I exerted myself more yesterday but didn't eat any more than usual. I just wasn't any more hungry than normal. I may have to experiment with my food on long run day. Hmmmm. Oh well! After all, tomorrow's another day. : )
I experienced blue skies and sunshine. Saw some jewel weed along the way as well as chicory, queen annes lace, and daisies. The woodpeckers were hard at work. And yesterday's road kill stunk to high heaven today. lol Saw a huge ball of black tadpoles in the creek and stopped for just few seconds to watch a muskrat. I would have watched longer but he didn't oblige me. He took off lickety split!
Now I AM hungry. I'm thinking egg whites with chopped mushrooms, spinach, and onions with cottage cheese and whole wheat toast. Yum!

Fantastic Denise! You are braver than I am. I am so proud of you for getting out there even though you knew your legs would most likely be sore from yesterday's run. When I saw your face book post that you were heading out for a run I was amazed at your strenght!
ReplyDeleteI always take it easy the day after my long run. Even when I was running greater distances the most I would try was 3 miles just to get some of the lactic acid build up out. I'm thinking to replace that with non-leg cross training because my legs are just taking a beating. So for me I'm going for the 4 runs per week and the other days will be non-leg workouts consisting of upper body weights, swimming, water aerobics, something along that line. A friend of mine does Pilates and she said her classes work her core, abs, and upper body. That might be an option for me as well. They have some Pilates view instantly videos through my Roku player that I might try from home before I take on a structured class. That long bike ride I did on Saturday in hindsight was not smart if I was planning speed work on Monday. I love how our bodies reign us back in!
Hi Denise, you are one determined woman! You make you run sounds like a lot of fun noticing all these wonderful things in nature! You must live in a beautiful neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteI injured myself being a little too ambitious weight training a while ago, but you are inspiring me to be more motivated about getting back into it again.
Good luck with your training! I will drop in occasionally to cheer you on and get encouraged!!
